University Education

The Liechtenstein higher education and reseach system include the following accredited institutions.
- the University of Liechtenstein (Universität Liechtenstein),
- the Private University in the Principality of Liechtenstein (Private Universität im Fürstentum Liechtenstein, UFL),
- the International Academy of Philosophy (Internationale Akademie für Philosophy im Fürstentum Liechtenstein, IAP)

Post-secondary Non-university Education

The “Berufsmittelschule Liechtenstein” offers the possibility to achieve the “Matura” to all persons who have successfully completed vocational training. Liechtenstein’s “Berufsmatura” provides admission to study at all universities in Liechtenstein and Austria as well as universities of applied sciences in Switzerland.

Die Berufsmittelschule bietet allen Personen mit einer abgeschlossenen Berufsausbildung die Möglichkeit, die Matura berufsbegleitend nachzuholen. Die Lehrgänge beginnen jährlich und dauern mindestens vier Semester.

Process of Implementation of the Diploma Supplement

The Diploma Supplement accompanies the university diploma and contains a standardised description of the type, level, context and status of the degree programme successfully completed by the student. The Diploma Supplement creates transparency and simplifies the academic and professional recognition of professional qualifications (diplomas, academic degrees, achievement, etc.). In 1999, the University of Liechtenstein was one of the first institutions in Europe to introduce this EU/UNESCO/Council of Europe Diploma Supplement proposal, which it has since awarded to graduates as an accompaniment to the diploma.

Process of Implementation of the Diploma Supplement

According to the Act on Higher Education (by 25 November 2004), section 23, the Diploma Supplement contains information about completed qualifications of Bachelor, Master or Doctoral studies.
